Terms of Service
Effective Date: 5 August 2026
These Terms govern your use of Reflect Nightly, including its Android application, related websites, and services. By using Reflect Nightly, you agree to these Terms and the Reflect Nightly Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. The service
Reflect Nightly provides guided spoken and written reflection, journaling, summaries, and pattern-oriented growth features. It is provided on an as-available basis. Features may be unavailable, modified, limited, interrupted, or discontinued for maintenance, safety, security, reliability, provider availability, or cost reasons.
Reflect Nightly is not therapy, medical care, diagnosis, crisis support, emergency assistance, or professional advice. AI-generated questions, summaries, takeaways, and insights may be inaccurate, incomplete, unsuitable, or misleading. Do not rely on Reflect Nightly for medical, legal, financial, safety, or other high-stakes decisions. If you may be in immediate danger or need urgent help, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional.
2. Eligibility and responsible use
You may use Reflect Nightly only if you are legally able to enter a binding agreement where you live. Unless a later version of the service expressly says otherwise, Reflect Nightly is intended for adults and is not directed to children.
You are responsible for the content you enter, for reviewing AI-generated results before saving or acting on them, and for keeping your device, app lock, exports, and account credentials secure. Do not use the service to submit unlawful content, content that violates another person's rights, malware, or content that attempts to interfere with or gain unauthorized access to the service.
3. Your journal content and limited licence
You retain ownership of the private reflections, drafts, transcripts, audio-derived content, summaries, takeaways, insights, display name, and other content you create or provide through Reflect Nightly, subject to any third-party rights in material you include.
You grant Reflect Nightly only the limited, non-exclusive, revocable, worldwide licence needed to receive, host temporarily, transmit, format, analyze, generate responses from, save, display back to you, export at your request, and otherwise process your content to operate the specific features you request. This licence includes using service providers acting on Reflect Nightly's behalf, such as Firebase and Google Gemini, to provide those features.
This licence does not give Reflect Nightly ownership of your private journal content and does not authorize Reflect Nightly to publish, sell, advertise with, or use that content to train general-purpose AI models. Reflect Nightly does not provide a public journal, guide-submission, or user-content marketplace in the current testing version. If a future feature allows public sharing, it will require a separate user action and updated terms explaining the applicable sharing licence.
You are responsible for having the rights and permissions necessary to submit content that includes another person's information, voice, likeness, or copyrighted material.
4. AI processing
When you request an AI feature, Reflect Nightly sends the content needed for that feature to its Firebase backend and/or Google's Gemini service through Firebase AI Logic. This may include typed reflection text, live-session transcripts, prompt context, recent continuity takeaways, and content needed to produce questions, summaries, weekly summaries, home prompts, polished reflections, or other requested results.
AI processing is necessary for the requested AI feature. AI output is probabilistic and may be wrong or unexpected. You remain responsible for deciding whether to save, edit, disregard, or act on any output.
Paid Google Cloud/Gemini billing may affect Google's use of prompts and responses under Google's applicable paid-service terms, but it does not make AI processing end-to-end private. Google, Firebase, and authorized service systems must process the content to provide the feature, and limited provider-side logging or retention may apply as described in the Privacy Policy.
5. Live audio
If you grant microphone permission and start a live voice reflection, Reflect Nightly captures microphone audio for that session and streams it to the configured Gemini/Firebase service so the service can interpret the conversation and return audio or text responses. The app does not intentionally save raw microphone audio as a local journal file, but the provider may process audio and input or output transcriptions as necessary to provide the feature.
You control microphone permission through Android. You can stop a live session or revoke permission, although data already transmitted before stopping may continue to be processed by the relevant provider under its terms and retention controls.
6. Accounts and third-party providers
Some AI requests use an anonymous Firebase Authentication account and App Check to authenticate and protect the service. The current testing version does not provide durable user account sign-in or cloud journal synchronization. Anonymous identifiers and limited quota or abuse-prevention metadata may be retained as described in the Privacy Policy.
Reflect Nightly relies on third-party providers, including Google Firebase, Google Gemini, Google Analytics for Firebase, Google's User Messaging Platform, and RevenueCat. Those providers may process information under their own terms, privacy policies, security practices, and retention rules. Reflect Nightly is not responsible for independent provider services or websites, but will use them only as described in the Privacy Policy and for the relevant app functionality.
7. Subscriptions and payments
The private-testing build may display RevenueCat Test Store offerings and simulated subscription or entitlement flows. These are testing features and are not production Google Play subscriptions unless the applicable purchase screen clearly states otherwise.
If paid subscriptions become available, the applicable purchase screen will disclose the price, billing period, renewal terms, trial or introductory offer, taxes where required, and the entitlement provided. Purchases, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and payment processing are subject to the applicable app-store rules and the terms shown at purchase. You must manage cancellation through the applicable store or subscription-management feature. Deleting the app does not necessarily cancel a subscription.
Reflect Nightly may change or discontinue plans, features, limits, and prices subject to applicable law and any required notice. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer refund or cancellation rights.
8. Exports and sharing
Reflect Nightly creates an export only when you request one. Android's document or sharing interface, the destination you select, and any recipient you choose control copies after export. You are responsible for reviewing an export before sharing it and for protecting exported files.
Exports may contain highly sensitive reflections, transcripts, summaries, and insights. Reflect Nightly cannot control copies that you send to other people, apps, storage services, or social networks.
9. Deletion and local data
The current version primarily stores journal data locally and disables Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer for that app-private data. Clearing app data, uninstalling the app, changing devices, or deleting history may permanently remove local data. You should create an export before a destructive action if you need a separate copy.
Settings may provide reflection-history deletion and complete local app-data deletion. Local deletion removes the applicable local content and settings, but does not automatically delete exported files, provider-side AI records, anonymous Firebase Authentication records, quota or security metadata, Analytics records, or RevenueCat records. Provider-side deletion and retention are handled as described in the Privacy Policy and the applicable provider controls.
10. Intellectual property
Reflect Nightly's software, source code, branding, visual design, interface, and provider-supplied or Reflect Nightly-provided materials remain owned by Reflect Nightly or its licensors. Except for the limited right to use the service under these Terms, no ownership or other licence is granted to you.
11. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Reflect Nightly at any time. Reflect Nightly may suspend or terminate access to a feature or the service if reasonably necessary to address security, abuse, legal requirements, provider restrictions, technical failures, or a violation of these Terms. Provisions concerning ownership, limited processing rights, disclaimers, liability, and dispute resolution survive termination to the extent applicable.
12. Governing Law
This Agreement and your use of the Service shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland, excluding the application of any rule or principal of conflict of law that might otherwise refer construction, interpretation, or the resolution of any dispute to the laws of another jurisdiction. Any dispute arising under this Agreement shall be resolved exclusively by the courts located in Ireland.
13. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Reflect Nightly is provided without guarantees of uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose. Reflect Nightly and its officers, directors, employees, and agents are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business, arising from use of the service, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded or limited in your jurisdiction.
14. Changes and contact
Reflect Nightly may update these Terms as the product develops. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date and, where appropriate, communicated in the app. Continued use after an announced change may constitute acceptance where permitted by law.
Before public launch, publish a monitored support and legal contact address, the legal entity's name and address, the hosted Terms URL, applicable jurisdiction and dispute provisions, and any required regional consumer notices.
